A characteristic feature of the Graduate School of Dentistry is that it enables students to engage in advanced research, from the basics of dental science to clinical dentistry.
By utilizing our long-term study system, students can also aim to obtain a doctoral degree while working in a clinical setting.

We have established a guidance system, the latest equipment, and a research collaboration foundation to enable students to engage in a wide range of advanced dentistry research.

The Graduate School of Dentistry of Aichi Gakuin University is one of the leading dental research hubs in the Chubu region. We have established a wide range of research fields to respond to the interests of each graduate student and the various issues based on them, covering 17 fields of basic dental science and clinical dentistry. While receiving guidance from faculty members in their specialized subject, students can learn about other fields they select as elective subjects and engage in research spanning multiple interdisciplinary fields.
To ensure research proceeds smoothly, the Graduate School also strives for guidance through collaboration between basic research and clinical research. Because of this, even if students encounter unexpected basic problems while conducting clinical research, they can learn the necessary knowledge and research methods to overcome them from basic science faculty members and proceed with their research while building a foundation in the related field.
While the Graduate School has established a research guidance system, it also strives to provide the latest equipment indispensable for research. We have formed a platform for seeking assistance from collaborating research facilities when equipment is needed that the Graduate School does not have. Each field of the Graduate School of Dentistry conducts research in collaboration with a variety of research institutes and other entities, forming a network with facilities that possess a variety of research instruments.
The Graduate School has introduced a system that enables dentists active in dental care settings to enroll through an adult entrance exam and engage in research. We have also a long-term study system for new students who wish to pursue long-term studies due to employment or for other reasons. The long-term study system is a system for taking subjects in a planned manner beyond the standard period of study (4 years), and by reducing the number of credits acquired per year, it enables students to engage in research while continuing to work. Furthermore, we have established a system to extend the period of study to continue research. For such cases, we have introduced a system to partially waive tuition fees after screening.
We have also introduced an early completion system that enables completion in a minimum of three years for graduate students with outstanding achievements.
Students in the School of Dentistry experience clinical practice before graduation and are required to undergo at least one year of clinical dental training after graduation, and these processes are good opportunities to encounter attractive research issues. By boldly taking on the themes they discover and develop an interest in, students can deepen their knowledge of their specialized fields and acquire advanced research abilities and skills to provide better treatment to patients. We hope that students will contribute to development of dentistry and improvement of the quality of dental care through their research activities.
