We will NOT WATCH any videos today, prior to the exam. You should have PREPARED for the exam by REVIEWING the two assigned videos. I HOPE that you can REMEMBER people's names AND have FILLED your head with as much information about the stories as possible, so that you will HAVE lots of concrete, interesting information to ADD to your two short answers.

Would you LIKE to HAVE some time to REFRESH your memory about the names and events in these three stories.

You may USE a (paper, not electric) dictionary today. Please TAKE OUT any dictionaries that you will USE and your student ID card. I will be CHECKING them while you PREPARE for the exam.

Exam #2: Extended Answers

Today you will HAVE your second exam. When the exam begins you will be PRESENTED with 6 questions and be GIVEN directions like this:

Choose two (ONLY TWO) of the following questions. Give a short answer. Then add more information or some comments using 4 full sentences (just as you might do in a normal conversation).

You will GET 30 minutes to ANSWER the two questions ... with extended answers. You will NOT be ASKED to divide noun phrases OR sentences into 4 .

((Teams Recording OFF))

((check dictionaries, IDs, and
the students' seating))

LET'S GET ready for today's exam. TURN OFF your cellphones. PUT them in your bags and CLOSE the bags. PUT AWAY everything except the things that you NEED for the exam. PUT AWAY your pencil cases, too.

No more talking. If you have any questions, RAISE you hand and ASK the teacher.

The questions are on the front of the exam AND the characters' names on the back. DO NOT LOOK at the front side yet. KEEP the back side (with the names) FACING UP until you are TOLD to BEGIN.

((pass out the exam sheets))

After the examination ... GO to your channels on Teams. One person will OPEN a new meeting. The others will JOIN that meeting. Then WRITE your first message: Your group's name ... and ... Week 13.

CHOOSE your Leader. Then WRITE your second message: the Leader's name.

Finally WRITE the plan:
(third message) Plan A: 3-Minute Routine.

Each group will CHOOSE it's own scene from the assigned videos. WATCH the scene on your cellphone or tablet with the sound OFF. You will be DISCUSSING what happened, rather than what people said. You will HAVE a fresh image of the events in your head as you TALK about the scene.

TIME yourselves and TRY to KEEP the pace lively ... 3 minutes (English Only) for each sentence and only 1 minute (NO talking at all) to think of each Thought Question and its answer.

Time for You to Practice

During the Group Work Leaders should MAKE SURE that all students that are online KEEP their microphones ON (so that they can SPEAK) AND their cameras ON (so that they can SEE each other).

c Chat

Group X2@Week 13
Leader: Hanako
Plan A: 3-Minute Routine

((R)): Kobayashi was talking to Hanako in Hanako's ...
(()): They were alone.
Now LET's GO to your channels on Teams to ENJOY some English practice in your discussion groups.
You NEED to CHOOSE a leader.

At the top of your report WRITE
(message #1) your group's name, "Week 13",
(message #2) the leader's name, and
(message #3) Plan A: 3-Minute Routine.

Follow the 3-Minute Routine explained in Lesson 1 for each sentence. The sentences should be about one of the two assigned videos.

If you HAVE any questions about what you are supposed to be DOING, first DISCUSS the problem with your group, then ... if you are still in doubt, DO what you or your group THINK is right, (RAISE your hand if you're in the classroom) and SHOW it to the teacher (the PDS Cycle).

((Teams Recording OFF))
((confirm online attendance
with camera/microphone functions))
