Crayola Color Cards
http:// www.agu.ac.jp / ~vicks62 / jeffreyb / color3. html

We can characterize any color as a combination of four: white (tinting), one of the secondary colors (made up of two primary colors), a primary color (one of those two colors), and black (shading).

R G B 1-2-3 2 - 3 only 3   color code
3 1 2 green         ff-55-aa
3 2 1 blue         ff-aa-55
2 3 1 blue         aa-ff-55
1 3 2 red         55-ff-aa
1 2 3 red         55-aa-ff
2 1 3 green         aa-55-ff
3 1 2 green         ff-55-aa

Here are the Hex codes for Crayola colors, simplified and broken down into 15 units composed of s [shade=black], t [tint=white], r [red], g [green], b [blue], y [yellow], c [cyan], and m [magenta]:

Rounding Off Hexadecimal
  0008  8088 90

By rounding off the hexidecimal number for each of the primary color, we can reduce the total number of colors from close to 16.8 million (16,777,216) to about 4.1 thousand (4,096) with no visible difference in colors.

When you mix two primary colors in different proportions, you can generate a continuum from one to the other, a portion of the color wheel. It goes through the secondary color formed by those two primary colors.
