Language and Society

授業の概要

This course aims to provide the students with opportunities to consider the significance of a language in the society. There are differences in linguistic properties and semantic values in any society due to verious social factors. The course is designed to enhance understanding of social functions of a language.

授業の到達
目標

This course has two purposes to be achieved by students. One is acquisition of basic concepts of relationships between language and society. The other is achievement of academic tasks in English. The second aim requires students to fulfill some prerequisites in English, such as taking lectures, making notes, reading a textbook and supplement materials.
