Narratives for Discussion
授業の概要
In this course students develop their narrative skills using visual aids such as storyboards and manga strips. In presenting narratives on themes in everyday life (such as pets, shopping, love and morals, as well as news events), students develop fluency and accuracy not only in describing a connected series of events, but also in expressing their opinions, relating experiences and summarizing.

目標
1. Students should be able to accurately and completely narrate connected series of events into stories.
2. They should also be able to make short speeches and lead discussions on the themes related to the original stories.

7Shopping 2: Debate and discussion on online shopping vs off line shopping. Advantages and disadvantages.Prepare stories and study language on love, dating or marriage (90分)
8Language focus: introducing a love story including higher level vocabulary and phrases on talking about love, dating and marriage.Language review and preps for “a modern love story” speeches (60分)
9Love 1: Short speech on “a modern love story” (e.g. celebrity love story). Tell it to your partner or group.Prepare for debate and discussion on relationships (60分)
10Love 2: Debate and discussion. What is most important in a love relationship?Prepare stories and study language on morals and social behaviour (90分)
11Language focus: introducing a moral story including vocabulary for talking about morals and social behaviour.Preps for short stories on trouble situations

12Morals 1: Short stories on morally difficult situations: students describe a trouble situation they have been through as teenagers.Prepare for discussion on children’s dos and don'ts (60分)
13Morals 2: Discussion on what children should and should not do before they are 20.Preview newspaper stories (60分)
14Reading and summarizing a newspaper story (related to any topic above) for discussion.Preps for discussion (60分)
