科目のねらい | | The seminar will focus on six major activities; literature review, theoretical and methodological questions, empirical examples and studies, conceptual/analytical framework formulation, field works and interpretation, and policy discussion in the field of Global Affairs and/or Special Area Studies. |

到達目標 | | (1) This seminar enables each student to gain skills in developing an original and interdisciplinary research project starting from the step of problem identification. (2) Students will be able to perform lectures, methodological development, presentations, discussion, and field surveys. (3) Students will be enriched with creativity and academic excellence in the concerned field/specialization. |

授業の内容・ 計画 | | Each student is free to choose or take an initiative in applying relevant approach - cross-disciplinary, interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary approach in accomplishing his/her special area studies through the following schedules. All students are required to fulfill the following requirements/tasks in the second year. 1) Background paper (week 1 ~ week 6) 2) Problem-identification & conceptual discussion paper (week 7 ~ week 10) 3) Literature review (week 11 ~ week 14) 4) Research framework & presentations (week 15) 5) Research process confirmation & progress reporting (week 16 ~ week 17) 6) Methodology & theoretical inputs (week 18 ~ week 19) 7) Case studies, empirical analysis & related field surveys (week 20 ~ week 22) 9) Thematic reports (week 23 ~ week 26) 10) Policy discussion, debate & rationalization (week 27) 11) Writing the second foundational part of dissertation (week 28 ~ week 30) |

授業外の学修 (予習・復習) | | In addition to attending regular seminar sessions, students can prioritize conducting overseas fieldworks, attending study meetings and academic events, and making consultative and presentation trips whenever relevant even during the semester. |

教科書・ 参考書 | | Every student should have/build a long list of references concerning each research concentration. In addition, a variety of materials from different sources will be added as the seminar's common resources to digest, discuss and apply for everyone's knowledge gains and methodological support. |
