| | | 到達目標 | | アメリカ映画を観て楽しんだことがありますか？ 登場人物が言っていることを理解するために字幕に頼っていますか。もしそうなら、英語を話す観客とは違った経験をしています。日本語の字幕は英語のほんの一般的な意味を伝えているにすぎませんし、感情のニュアンス、ジョーク、アメリカ文化或いはアメリカの最近の出来事を十分に表現していません。
字幕はあなたがより一層自然な英語への理解を向上せしめているとは言いがたいです。
この授業ではアメリカ映画の本当の世界に入り、ネイティヴ・スピーカーの様に映画を理解できることを学びます。
Have you enjoyed watching American movies but relied on subtitles to understand them? If so, you have probably experienced a DIFFERENT movie than native speakers. Subtitles usually give only a general sense, without nuances of feeling, jokes, or references to American culture or events. Most of all, they do not improve your English understanding. |
| | 授業の内容・
計画 | | このコースでは私達はいろいろな種類の映画、ドラマ、コメディー、ロマンス、サスペンスを使います。登場人物が本当に言っていることに集中して、あなたの語彙やアメリカン・イディオムを増やし、自然な話し方を身に着けます。二ヶ国語のスクリプトを使い、単語や意味をはっきりと理解してもらうために手引書を勉強します。もちろん私達は筋、登場人物、ねらい(隠れた根本思想)などについて話し合います。なぜならばそういうことによって映画がいっそう面白くなるのですから。そうですよね。
In this course, we will use several kinds of movies--drama, comedy, romance, suspense--to focus on what the characters are really saying, in order to increase your vocabulary, American idioms, and natural ways of speaking. We will use bilingual movie scripts and language & study guides to help you understand the words and meanings clearly. And of course, we will also discuss the plots, characters, and messages...because these are the things which make the movies interesting--right? |

（基準等） | | | Grades based on participation (10%), worksheets and written assignments (40%), and midterm and final exams (50%). |

(予習･復習) | | | Students should complete homework worksheets, answer Guide questions about what they saw in class, and watch again the class viewing on their own DVD copies. |
