科目のねらい | | The aim of this course is to improve students' English abilities, especially listening. By listening to a wide variety of speeches and conversations and learning listening tactics, students will develop their listening skill.
Listening skill, vocabulary building and understanding grammar are related: Learning basic English expressions and grammatical items are necessary in order to understand English. Thus, students have to learn a significant number of words and phrases. |

到達目標 | | Student will develop their English ability, especially listening skill by taking this course. This course estimates students' ability to be lower-intermediate, and helps them improve their ability to be high-intermediate or higher. Also, they will develop their vocabulary in English.
Active participation is one of the most important factors to improve your English. Students are required to do enough preparation for their lesson for adequate understanding and consistent improvement of their English. |

授業の内容・ 計画 | | The instructor gives students new word and phrase lists before each lesson. Students have to look up the meanings and usage in their dictionaries before they attend each lesson.
Each lesson has three parts: At first, the students and the instructor check the meanings and usage of unfamiliar words and phrases; next, the students try questions by listening to speeches and conversations in English; finally, the instructor gives answers and detailed explanations.
As mentioned above, active participation is a key to improving your English. Please feel free to ask the instructors any questions.

評価方法 (基準等) | | Examinations: Mid-term examination (50%) and Final examination (50%)
You have to attend at least 1/3 (10/15) classes to take the final examination. Please note that to be late without reasonable cause will be treated as an absence. |

授業外の学修 (予習・復習) | | Student are required to prepare for each lesson by trying exercise seats given by the instructor. Also, they have to review the lesson by listening materials and reading scripts. Listening script will be given in each class. |
