To do that, you have to use different kinds of text types for different kinds of purposes. We will be practicing how to write texts for personal messages, news reports, event announcements and many more. Each time, we start by reading an example of that text type. Then we practice the sort of vocabulary, grammar, phrases and so on that are most needed in that text type. Finally, we do some text-making activities, sometimes in class and sometimes for homework. There will be some "listen-and-complete" text-making practice, too. 授業の内容・ スケジュール Week 1. Orientation and explaining class activities. Week 2. "Hi, Jason" - personal messsages. Week 3. "Crash closes bridge during storm" - news reports. Week 4. "Hightones Reunion Concert" - event announcements. Week 5. "Dear sirs" - request letters. Week 6. "XYZ three-shelf bookcase" - assembly instructions. Week 7. "The lesson of the talking fish" - storytelling. Week 8. Midterm review (with report assignment) Week 9. "<Stranded!> leaves us cold" - movie or book reviews. Week 10. "The big storm" - weather news. Week 11. "Two letters" - application letters. Week 12. "This is your captain" - broadcast announcements. Week 13. "Life without a cellphone?" - survey report. Week 14. "How long can people live?" - lifestyle advice. Week 15.
