Unit 6 Introduction
LET'S GO OVER the answers to the Exercises on pages 26 and 27 of the textbook.
Now ... please FORGET all the mistakes that you MADE ... FORGET that you ever MADE any mistakes. Instead just CONCENTRATE on the correct patterns. FOCUS on how verbs are USED to MAKE sentences. The simplest, and most common sentence pattern, of course, is ... the SVO pattern.
For your homework this week, I WANT you to PRACTICE some sample sentences for 10 minutes each day. You should USE the third minute of the 3-Minute Routine when you do this. You will WRITE the assigned sentences on paper that has been FOLDED into 4区. USE a new piece of paper each day. At the top of the paper, WRITE (a) "Pharmacy", (b) the day, (c) your student number, and (d) your name at the top. These will be your Target Sentences for vocabulary building and review.
1st min. | |
2nd min. | |
3rd min. | When you are FINISHED WRITING, ... PRACTICE SAYING the full sentence 2 or 3 times, without looking at what you have WRITTEN. TRY to SPEED the sentence UP (like the Bounce Patrol does with numbers). |
Periodic review (at intervals of 14 days or more) of Target Sentences are one of the best ways to PUT grammar patterns and vocabulary into your long-term memory.
Now I would LIKE to INTRODUCE Unit 6 of the textbook:
Please DO the Exercises on pages 30 and 31 for homework. It should TAKE you about 10 minutes (1 day).
((read directions, then choose video clip))
((WRITE Week 9, Title [clip], time frame))
then WATCH a
video clip for 2-3 minutes.
((WRITE ---------- GO ----------))
After the Flash Quiz ... GO to your channels on Teams. One person will OPEN a new meeting. The others will JOIN that meeting. Then WRITE your first message: Your group's name ... and ... Week 9.
CHOOSE your Leader. Then WRITE your second message: the Leader's name.
Finally WRITE the plan in two messages:
(third message) Plan A: 3-Minute Routine
(fourth message) Level 3: Unconnected sentences.
Each group will CHOOSE it's own scene from the assigned videos. WATCH the scene on your cellphone or tablet with the sound OFF. You will be DISCUSSING what happened, rather than what people said. You will HAVE a fresh image of the events in your head as you TALK about the scene.
TIME yourselves and TRY to KEEP the pace lively ... 3 minutes (English Only) for each sentence.
During the Group Work Leaders should MAKE SURE that all students that are online KEEP their microphones ON (so that they can SPEAK) AND their cameras ON (so that they can SEE each other).

Group X2 Week 9 |
Leader: Hanako |
Plan A: 3-Minute Routine |
Level 3: Unconnected sentences |
((鈴)): Apply some of this ointment ... |
((山)): Insert one of these suppositories ... |
((伊)): Apply one of these anti-fever patches ... |
At the top of your report WRITE
(message #1) your group's name, "Week 9",
(message #2) the leader's name,
(message #3) Plan A: 3-Minute Routine, and
(message #4) Level 3: Unconnected sentences.
Follow the 3-Minute Routine explained in Lesson 1 for each sentence (and question, perhaps). The sentences should be about scenes from the assigned videos.
If you HAVE any questions about what you are supposed to be DOING, first DISCUSS the problem with your group, then ... if you are still in doubt, DO what you or your group THINK is right, (RAISE your hand if you're in the classroom) and SHOW it to the teacher (the PDS Cycle).
