Chronology

1876 Aichi Gakuin was founded as the Nagoya Branch Training Center of Soto Zen Buddhism at Daikoin Temple, Monzen-machi, Nagoya.
1921 The campus was moved to Tashiro-cho, Nagoya -- Kusumoto Campus at present.
1925 Aichi Junior High School was established under the former Japanese school regulations.
1928 The main school building in the Kusumoto Campus was completed.
1948 Aichi High School was established. "Aichi Gakuin" was decided as the general term.
1950 Aichi Gakuin Junior College was established.
1953 The University was accredited by the Ministry of Education as a University; The Faculty of Commerce was founded along with the Department of Commerce.
1957 The Faculty of Law was established.
1961 The School of Dentistry was established.
1962 The Department of Business Administration was added to the Faculty of Commerce.
1964 The Graduate School was founded.
1970 The Faculty of Letters was founded, incorporating the Department of Buddhist and Religious Studies and the Department of Psychology.
1974 The Department of History was added to the Faculty of Letters.
1975 The Nisshin Campus was opened.
1976 The 100th Anniversary of the founding of Aichi Gakuin. The 100th Anniversary Commemorative Hall was built.
1986 The Department of International Culture was added to the Faculty of Letters.
1988 The Department of Japanese Culture was added to the Faculty of Letters.
1990 The Faculty of Management was founded, independently of the Department of Business Administration of the Faculty of Commerce.
1991 The Japanese Language Course for Foreign Students was established.
1996 The International Research Center was established in commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the foundation of Aichi Gakuin.
1998 The Faculty of Information and Policy Studies was established.
2001 The Department of Business Information was added to the Faculty of Commerce.
The Department of International Business was established within the Faculty of Management.
2002 The Department of Law and Contemporary Society was added to the Faculty of Law.
2003 The Faculty of Psychological and Physical Science was founded, independently of the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Letters.
The Sakae Satellite Center was opened in Nagoya as the Sakae Campus for Master's programs in Commerce, Management and Law.
2004 The Department of Physical Science was added to the Faculty of Psychological and Physical Science.
2005 The School of Pharmacy was established.
2006 The Department of Information and Policy Studies was reorganized into the Department of Policy Studies.
The Department of Dental Hygiene was added to the Junior College.
